  6. BLITZ is a small program that is designed to be loaded into memory and that
  7. sits in the background until activated by its hotkey.  It can also be used
  8. as a CLI type command.  Blitz allows you to view a text file, much like a
  9. TYPE command, only that it lets you move forwards and backwards through
  10. the file, much like an editor.  Blitz's screen updates are the fastest on the
  11. Amiga.  Blitz uses:  Look at INCLUDE files quickly and easily, look at all the
  12. source and readme files you download, use the standard file to find out what's
  13. on a disk when the program you're using doesn't show you, open a cli at any
  14. time, pop up Blitz when running Textcraft; allows you to gain access to your
  15. Workbench with amiga M & N  and lets you see what's on your disk, use it from
  16. your editor to look at more files.  Blitz has hundreds of uses, when I started
  17. writing it I had know idea how useful it really would be.  I am not
  18. exaggerating!  I don't care if I am biased, but I couldn't imagine using
  19. an Amiga without Blitz.

  21.   Activation from the CLI is as easy as:

  23.    Blitz <filename> -b
  24.  
  25. Where filename is the file you want, and -b (optional) enters background mode
  26. immediately.  If no filename is specified, Blitz presents a standard file
  27. requester.  If you want to keep Blitz in the background, you should RUN Blitz.
  28. An icon is included for execution from the Workbench.

  31. Menus:

  33. Open       -  Gets you a file requester.  Directories are shown in bold,
  34.               double click on names to enter directories or select files.
  35. Save       -  Saves your file under its loaded name.
  36. Save As    -  Gets you a file requester.  Saves your file under selected name.
  37. Print      -  Not yet implemented (aaah!)
  38. About      -  Tells you to send me money (please do).
  39. Help       -  Tells you keyboard controls.
  40. Open a CLI -  Must have Newcli command in your c: directory.
  41. Quit       -  Closes doc, window and screen, enters background.
  42. Background -  Preserves doc, closes window and screen, enters background.

  44. Fast Keys  -  Makes keys repeat as fast as possible (or just use SHIFT).
  45. Word Wrap  -  Turns word wrap on or off.
  46. Video Sync -  Turns video sync on or off.  Try it both ways to see it's
  47.               effects.  Hard to do true video syncing nicely on a multi-
  48.               tasking system.
  49. Tabs       -  Sets # of spaces between tab stops (not # of spaces for a tab).
  50. Strip HiBits  Removes the hi bits from your files.  Use if a file contains
  51.               a lot of garbage characters, helps sometimes.
  52. Strip CR   -  Removes carriage returns from your document, sometimes
  53.               neccessary for files that came from other systems.
  54. Convert CR to LF  - Changes carriage returns into line feeds, sometimes
  55.               neccessary for files that came from other systems.

  59. To restore Blitz from the background press left amiga and F3.

  61. Use Blitz, discover how useful it is.  Give it to all your friends, post it
  62. on all the boards, put it on public domain compilations, THEN if you
  63. decide to keep it, send me $10 (if you don't keep it, I guess you can't
  64. read):

  73. Please send me suggestions for other ShareWare programs that you would like to
  74. see.  Currently I am considering:  keyboard macros in for use in any program,
  75. warm-boot recoverable ram: disk, screen grabber that is better than grabbit,
  76. and an editor/word processor (see below).  I would also like to know what
  77. features you would like in the programs, and how much you would be willing
  78. to pay for it.  The program with the most suggestions will be the next
  79. ShareWare product I release.

  81. I am just finishing a wonderful editor that has superfast screen updates,
  82. multiple windows, multiple documents, short code ( <50K ), and that is all
  83. in all better than any other editor for the Amiga, commercial or not.  If
  84. enough people send me money for Blitz, I will release this editor as
  85. ShareWare for $20 or less.  If not, it will be published commercially and
  86. you will have to pay at least twice as much, so send your money in!  Support
  87. a poor programmer.
